Harbor Seal, (Phoca vitulina)

Harbor Seal (Phoca vitulina)

The harbor seal is also known as a pinniped, which means feather or fin-footed, describing chubby marine mammals.  Its short, stubby foreflippers are used to steer underwater and to pull it forward on land.  Its diet consists of many species of fish, octopus, squid, shrimp, crab and mollusks.  It will live between 20 and 30 years.
