Giraffes - Exotic Wildlife

Exotic Wildlife

#46602 Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis)

The two subspecies of giraffe are exclusively African and can be distinguished by the size and shade of the blotches on their coats.  The tallest mammal in the world, its striking stature graces the savannas as it forages for leaves in high tree branches.  A single young is born after  14-15 month month gestation period.  After birth the young stay with their mother and other females and their young in a herd for at least three years.
