North American Beaver

North American Wildlife
Beaver (Castor canadensis).
A beaver that lives along the river will make an underwater entrance into the riverbank.  Those that live along streams, lakes, and ponds will build dams that incorporated a lodge with living quarters and several underwater entrances.  It has webbed hind feet and a broad flat tail that serves as a rudder when swimming.  It fells trees by gnawing around them and biting out chips in deep grooves.
