Mule Deer Fawn (Odocoileus hemionus)
A once bred doe will produce a single fawn and an older doe will usually have twins. Newborn weigh about eight pounds at birth and the doe will keep its young concealed for the first month. A fawn can recognize its mother by the glands on the hindlegs above the hooves.
