A Red Fox Kit from Colorado

North American Wildlife
Colorado

# 10942 Red Fox Kit (Vulpes vulpes).
Regarded as the embodiment of cunning, the red fox is shy and nervous.  When the kit is about a month old, it will play aboveground.  The parents bring food to their young, consisting of vegetation in the summer and birds and mammals in the winter.

Sawgrass Recreation Park
2013

My girlfriend and I went for the day.  We had a lot of fun!  The airboat ride was fast, we saw close up alligators and turtles.  There was a lot of rain recently, so the birds were not there.  We toured the 'zoo' area after and held an alligator, that was fun too.

Baby Red Foxes

Baby Red Foxes
Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes)
Unlike most wild animals in the United States, the red fox has actually increased in numbers since the first European settlers arrived.  Despite their name, these foxes are not always red, but can be red-gray, silver-gray, brown or black.  But in all cases, the tail tip is white.  They mate for life and have a life span of 4-5 years.
