Thirteen-Lined Ground Squirrels, (Striped Gopher)

The thirteen-lined ground squirrel - Their coat pattern is unique, with 13 dark and pale stripes running the length of the back, the dark stripes are patterned with small white spots.  They burrow in prairies and fields.

This postcard was made by Pete Klinger and is number 47 in a limited edition of 100.

The Minnesota Gopher is actually a 13 stripe ground squirrel.  This friendly animal is a delight to watch at campsite or cabin.
