North Seymour (Spanish: Isla Seymour Norte) is a small island near to Baltra Island in the Galapagos Islands. It was formed by uplift of a submarine lava formation.

It has an area of 1.9 square kilometres (0.73 sq mi) and a maximum altitude of 28 metres (92 ft). This island is home to a large population of blue-footed boobies and swallow-tailed gulls. It hosts one of the largest populations of frigatebirds.

Seagull by Kelly Glazner

National Postcard Week
May 1-7, 2011

The seagull has been considered the Utah state bird since the summer of 1848.  The farmers' fields were nearly destroyed by invading hordes of crickets.  Flocks of seagulls settled in the fields and gorged themselves on the crickets, saving the crops from devastation.  On February 14,1955 legislators designated the California Gull as the official state bird.
