The Danube Delta is the second largest river delta in Europe, after the Volga Delta. The greater part of the Danube Delta lies in Romania (Tulcea county), while its northern part, on the left bank of the Chilia arm, is situated in Ukraine (Odessa Oblast). It is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The White-faced Heron, Egretta novaehollandiae, also known as the White-fronted Heron, and incorrectly as the Grey Heron, or Blue Crane, is a common bird throughout most of Australasia, including New Guinea, the islands of Torres Strait, Indonesia, New Zealand, the islands of the Subantarctic, and all but the driest areas of Australia.

It is a relatively small heron, pale, slightly bluish-grey, with yellow legs and white facial markings. It can be found almost anywhere near shallow water, fresh or salt, and although it is prompt to depart if disturbed, it will boldly raid suburban fish ponds.

Great Blue Heron

Mississippi National River and Recreation Area

The great blue heron (Ardea herodias) stands 3 to 4 feet tall with a wingspan of 6 feet.  This ancient bird is often seen flying and waking along the Mississippi River where it nests in large rookeries.  The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area is located in the Minneapolis / St. Paul metropolitan area and is a 72 mile river corridor which represents the significance of America's greatest waterway.  The National Park Service works with partners to care for the diverse resources and preserve the heritage of the Mississippi River.
