The Bluebird is the state bird of Missouri and New York.  These birds provide excellent insect control which makes them popular garden birds in the eastern Untied States.  People attract Bluebirds to their homes by offering nesting boxes.

Although found more often in rural areas, the Bluebird is being found more often in urban areas.  With its brilliant blue head and upper body contrasting with its reddish-brown breast, this little bird is one of my favorites at my backyard feeder.

Idaho Statehood
The Idaho centennial stamp was issued January 6, 1990 at the state capital, Boise.  Admitted to the Union as the 43rd state, Idaho's commemorative stamp features the Mountain Bluebird, the official state bird.

Mountain Bluebird - Sialia currucoides.
Nesting in tree cavities and preying on insects, this species is commonly encountered inhabiting woodland, meadows and tundra.  the male is a striking sky blue and the female is brownish-grey.
