Colorado's natural beauty is enjoyed by all who visit the state.  With over 10 national parks, monuments and historic trails, a variety of recreational actives can be found throughout the mountainous region.  Canyons, mountains, sand dunes, and wildlife grace the landscapes of Colorado creating majestic scenes of rustic beauty.

I think most of the animals on this 3-D postcard are a: cougar, otter, sheep, chipmunk, beaver, elk, moose, eagle, deer, bear and a marmot.

Marmots are large squirrels in the genus Marmota. They mostly live in mountainous areas

The groundhog of North America is a lowland marmot.

Marmots typically live in burrows (often within rock piles), and hibernate there through the winter.

Most marmots are highly social and use loud whistles to communicate with one another, especially when alarmed.

Marmots Along Trail Ridge Road - Marmota flaviventris.
Yellow-bellied marmots spend their days alternately foraging for lush herbs and basking in the sun.  Requiring boulders for cover, they seldom venture far from their borrow and "whistle" when danger is sensed.  Marmots hibernate in early October and emerge in April or May.
