Giant Squid from the Houston, Texas Museum of Natural Science

Giant Squid
Architeuthis (pronounced arc ca tooth) is the Latin name for the Giant Squid, and the Museum's anatomically correct giant squid model is 35-feet in length.  Including outstretched tentacles, giant squids reach a length of over 60 feet and weigh over 1,000 pounds.  Although their remains have been found in the stomachs of sperm whales and whole specimens have been collected in the nets of commercial fishermen - no giant squid has ever been seen alive!

unused, from 2012 (as of 2009 there have been pictures and since 2012 they have filmed giant squids alive)
